The 11th Annual Lobsterfest fundraiser for the Ste. Anne Hospital Fund was successful again this year, raising $23,000 for specialized equipment.

Executive Director Zoe Nakata says they sold over 130 tickets for the lobster dinner held in La Broquerie on October 22, with the hopes of raising at least $20,000. Nakata says the funds raised will be used to purchase specialized equipment in the new operating ward at the hospital.

"We are proud to offer quality care to anyone in the Southeast, and we offer bilingual service which is very important to some of our residents. We keep fundraising to make sure we prosper, and to keep those services available to the residents of Ste. Anne and the whole Southeast."

Nakata says they brought in 1,000 pounds of fresh Atlantic lobster from New Brunswick for the event, and just over 500 pounds of lobster was enjoyed by guests. She says typically more than 600 pounds of lobster is consumed at the fundraiser, and any lobster left over is sold off at the end of the night. Nakata says they also had a successful silent auction and wine pull.

Overall, organizers are very pleased with this year's event.
