Morris Mayor Dale Hoffman

Improvements to Highway 75 through the town of Morris are scheduled to begin next year.
Mayor Dale Hoffman says part of the reconstruction plan includes some changes to the parking lane along the major roadway. Currently, the north and south bound sides of the roadway have two through lanes for traffic, a turning lane, and a parking lane. Hoffman says the plan is to eliminate the parking lane, and use the turning lane for parking . He says "That still allows two main through lanes without traffic being impeded." He adds, "What they are proposing is a wider sidewalk area, and a parking lane, and then the two through lanes, so we're basically removing one lane."

Hoffman says he and town administrators will meet with Highways Department officials on Thursday to discuss some of the finer details of the plan.  The reconstruction of highway 75 through Morris will be a two year project, which will be completed in 2012.
