Nathan Dueck is running in the upcoming Niverville Byelection with the hopes that he can bring a new perspective to town hall.

Dueck says he has been a resident of Niverville for twelve years and really loves the community. He notes one of the main reasons he decided to run for the open spot on town council was to help improve transparency and communication.

“My major concern that I wanted to deal with had to do with the fact that as a citizen I didn't feel that I had the best representation, and also I didn't feel that the town was being as transparent as it could have been or should have been. You can sit back and complain about different issues or you can actually go doing something.”

Dueck says representing the people and businesses of Niverville is one of his big priorities. He notes it is important to sit down with people who have concerns, listen to them, and follow up with them to make sure they know that they are being looked after. He says a concern he has heard from a lot of Niverville residents is the cost of living.

“I think, much like myself, people are looking at the community and saying it is a fantastic community with wonderful services, wonderful businesses, it has everything I need to raise my kids and family except for the fact that I'm scared of being there 10 years from now, because I am scared that at one point or another this community is going to become unaffordable for myself or my kids.”

Dueck says in his time going door to door talking to residents he has been very encouraged. He notes many people are excited to vote for him because they would like to see new people in town hall.

“Niverville has always had a little bit of a stigma in terms of being an old club when it comes down to what people are looking for in town hall, and people are not taking the liberty themselves to go out and change it, so this is one of the things that I have focused on myself in terms of my own life and my own career and I look forward to helping people out in town.”

The Niverville byelection takes place on September 14th.
