The Town of Ste. Anne has a new Recreation Director.

Carolyn Cameron has a background in sports and was a professional figure skating and power skate coach. She has a recreation management education and has created many camps for children, youth and adults. “I have been involved with some cultural opportunities as well. I like to create new ideas and find things that people are interested in, and get them out into the community. So I guess community development combined with the recreational and leisure aspect is what really interests me.”

Cameron says she is interested in creating more opportunities for the arts, and is working on putting together a book club together with the library. “When I got here, I found out they had an international cooking class that seemed very popular, I'm going to try to continue that, and I'm hoping to add an iron chef junior competition.”

Cameron says something to look forward to is a 'skate with Santa' date, planned for the 20th of December. “It's an event where families can come and skate, write letters and take pictures with Santa, do some crafts, meet other people in the community and celebrate the holiday.”

Cameron adds, she is looking forward to hearing feedback and ideas for community activities. She can be reached by emailing her at the sports and recreation link on the Town of Ste. Anne's website. http://www.steannemb.ca/
