Providence University College and Theological Seminary at Otterburne reports its enrollment has held steady this fall. David Johnson, who is President of the School, says they have 469 students. He notes enrollment is down a bit at the University College and up a bit in the Seminary. Johnson outlines the programs that are drawing the most students.

"In the Seminary, our counselling program remains the largest program. Probably almost half our students are counselling students so that's pretty large. Then in the University College, the trend continues in the business program. We continue to get more and more students in that program so we're excited about that growth there."

Johnson notes the board has just approved the addition of more science courses.

"Our board, just on Saturday (October 4), approved moving forward with more science courses, more hard science courses, and then, in about three years time, a Bachelor of Science here at Providence. So we're going to build a lab in the next year and hire a professor and so forth."

Johnson says they had some research done before making the decision and it showed a science program would be a good fit with the other things that are offered at Providence.

"The research showed that someone with a science degree also needs to be able to communicate and needs to be able to think like a business person and needs to integrate their ethics and their faith with their profession in biology or chemistry or whatever it is."
