The Steinbach Arts Council held their Annual General Meeting Wednesday night.

Board Chair Francis Funk says this last year has been an exciting year for the Arts Council as their fiscal responsible attitude and hard work resulted in the most significant surplus the Arts Council has seen. The 2013-2014 report for excess of revenues over expenses resulted in a $4,665 deficit where as the 2014-2015 report there was a $16,732 surplus.

Funk notes the surplus comes from being fiscally responsible as well as fundraising. She says the board has done a lot of work and she's proud of each and every one of them. Funk adds she's been a part of the Arts Council for ten years.

"It love it because this particular council is very, very busy. I love its involvement in the community, what it offers the community and it offers them so many different choices as to what they might want to do in the way of being part of a program."

She says the Arts Council offers over 60 programs with an average of 1200 people coming through the centre each week.
