This year's graduating class of 16 students at Ecole Pointe-des-Chenes will celebrate with the convocation at the Catholic Church in Sainte-Anne on June 24th, with dinner and dancing at Evergreen Village.

Teacher and grad advisor Rick Verrier says this year's graduating class has a variety of interests. “There is a mix of students that are highly motivated by marks, and are interested in pursuing a career in medicine or another high-level career, and those interested in the trades.”

Two valedictorians were chosen by school staff because of their academic achievements, and ability to represent their classmates. Verrier says, “we have Hannah Klos and Nicolas Champagne as valedictorians. Our small group of 16 was separated into two groups and these students represent the class well.”

Hannah Klos says after graduation, she plans to go to the University of St. Boniface and obtain a bachelor of science. “I will either continue on to become an occupational therapist or if I get into medicine, I will become a doctor.”

Klos says after 14 years of going to school with the same classmates it will be weird to go to school without them. “I hope my classmates will always continue working hard because as long as you are working hard you will achieve whatever you want.”

Verrier would like to leave the graduating class with these words, “keep dreaming and work hard to achieve your dreams. I find we all have the capacity to learn and achieve something if we set our minds and hearts to it. We need to go through life looking at the best in people and having an attitude of forgiveness where they sometimes fail us. Also to move on and work from there.”
