Blowing snow is a factor on all highways in the southeast with many highways having icy sections and drifting snow. All highways are currently open, although caution is advised when travelling.  That's according to Manitoba 511 Road and Traveller Information

Local streets are slippery in places, and gravel roads heading east and west have drifting and blowing snow.

Wes Fehr from the R.M. of Hanover Public Works Department says a few roads in the municipality were impassible, but crews were out early opening roads. "We've had a couple calls because roads were impassibe, but we've had all of our equipment on the roads to open up as many as we could. Right now all roads are passible but windy conditions are causing more snow deposits to accumulate on the roads again. It's not as bad as we anticipated, the snowfall just prior to Christmas was much worse than we thought this was going to be."

Fehr cautions drivers to take extra time when travelling because roads are still icy and visibility is a factor.

Public Works Supervisor for the R.M. of La Broquerie Ron Kowalchuk says, "Gagnon Road, Sarto Road and Marchand Road were the worst, with some north and south roads having drifts, because of the strong winds we've had. It will probably take a good two days of 12 hour shifts to clear all the roads."

A resident of Marchand, Tamara Jordanov was at home snowed in on Monday because of the road conditions. She says, "My driveway is completely drifted in up to my knees. We went out yesterday when the snow and wind started, and I just made it out of my driveway then. On the way back in I had a bit of an issue getting onto my driveway so I knew that for sure I wasn't getting out this morning."
