The Hanover School Division wants to make all parts of every school accessible.

Superintendent Randy Dueck explains they will be adding a lift for students and staff to be able to access the Steinbach Regional Secondary School theatre stage.

"For example, if we have a student who is in a wheelchair and wants to participate in dramas or anything on the stage at SRSS, they need to have access to that stage. Right now we don't have that kind of access. It's a bit complicated to provide that access, but we are intending to go forward with that this summer and provide a lift so that access will be there."

Dueck notes, his understanding, is the lift will be backstage near the stairs leading to the drama room.

The lift comes at a cost of $100,000, $80,000 of the total cost is being funded by the School's Finance Board, while the remaining $20,000 will be footed by the division.
