The developer of a new subdivision in Steinbach says construction of the first lots should begin in early August. Lexington Village is located along the south side of Mckenzie Avenue, immediately west of the Meadows. David Banman of Goldmark Developments appeared before city council this week and received approval to begin planning for phase two of the subdivision.

"Phase one hasn't quite started yet but will be starting in the next two to three weeks. Pre-sales have been fairly good on the first phase of the development so we are looking to develop a variety of lots from medium density to low density to single family density. The first phase was just low density I believe. Most of them will be duplex units as you come off Mckenzie and, in this situation, we felt that we needed a bunch of single family residences as well. That's why you see phase two. I believe there are eight phases in total."

City council was unanimous in approving phase two. Two new streets have been approved as part of that phase. They have been named Lincoln Avenue and Nicolette Avenue.
