The Engineering Manager for the RM of Hanover says the weather has cooperated with crews as they tackle a few infrastructure projects in the municipality this summer.

Rob Driedger says completed projects include street reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing in the community of Mitchell. And Driedger says there are four key projects left to be completed, none of which have started.

In the next month or so, crews are expected to begin work on building an asphalt sidewalk in Grunthal. But Driedger says the scope of that project could change if provincial funding does not come through. Right now the plan is to run the sidewalk along Church Avenue and Greentree Drive and then continue towards Oak Avenue and down to Wiens Road. The cost of this project is $45,000, and Driedger says if a provincial grant does not come through, the sidewalk will only run along Church Avenue and Greentree Drive.

There is also a sidewalk being planned for Blumenort. Again, it is expected to be built starting in late August or early September. Driedger says at an estimated cost of $45,000, crews will build the sidewalk along Third Avenue from Lilac Street to Oakdale Drive.

In the community of New Bothwell, a small land drainage sewer will be built along Sheila Drive from Fernwood Way to Sara Avenue. Work is scheduled for August at an estimated cost of $42,000.

One final project is being planned for Mitchell. Driedger says in the next week or two, crews are expected to build a concrete bottom ditch along Reichenbach Road from Highway 52 to Orchard Hill. The cost estimate is between $80,000 and $85,000.

Driedger says there should be no inconvenience to the public with any of these projects aside from motorists needing to steer around the construction area. But he says don't expect any major traffic issues.

According to Driedger, the weather cooperated with projects completed earlier in the year. Though some of the projects scheduled for earlier in the year had to be pushed back, only because contractors were catching up from some of their projects delayed by rain.
