The province has released the results from its fall soil moisture survey.
"This year, the big thing that we've been seeing is that the surface is wet," said Land Management Specialist Marla Riekman, "We're looking at saturated conditions across the surface of the province, so the top foot had quite a bit of water in it. But the deeper soil depths really are quite dry in some areas of the province."
Riekman says its hard to count on snowfall to add to the soil moisture total, as it often runs off the field.
The major recharge comes from the fall rains, which were less than hoped for this year.
