This beautiful silk/lace dress is a part of the Mennonite Heritage Village's permanent collection. The dress belonged to a wealthy Mennonite woman, and would have been hand sewn especially for her by a very talented seamstress circa 1910. The garment will be featured in the upcoming book: "A Collected History - Mennonite Heritage Village" and will be officially available at the MHV Gift Shop as of December 9th!
More what you would have expected a Mennonite woman to wear back in the day -- but shows the great contrast that actually existed.
The beautiful dress, pictured above, is on the lovely lady sitting at the far left. What a find for a curator, the artifact and then a picture with someone actually wearing it. In the words of MHV Curator Andrea Dyck, "It gives me goosebumps!"
