It started out as an End Of Summer party for family and friends but in just a few short years, it's turned into so much more than that.

One of the organizers, Karla Funk, explains how the event has grown. "5 years ago we used it as an excuse to get together with friends. We had a bonfire, I made a big pot of Chili and we laughed and danced the night away. It was 3 years ago when we made a stage and started getting bands together. Around then, a friends brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer so we thought why not use it as a way to raise money for his family. We raised money so his wife could stay home and take care of him."

The event is September 8th and Karla details what people can expect. "2 pm there is a classic car show so bring your hotrods and classic trucks. 5 pm we will serve dinner, it will be cooked onsight all day, it's slow coal roasted chicken so everyone can drool while they're waiting for it to come up and it'll be served with sides and then at 7 pm there will be live entertainment."

The money raised will be going to help a local family who is needing to look beyond what Canadian Health Care can offer. "We found out pretty recently that the family has exhausted all avenues here in Canada so they hope to be heading to Phoenix for treatment. Obviously, it's very costly so we're hoping this can help out. I think it resonates with the people that are attending, that they're helping someone from our area."

Tickets are $20 each. Tickets and directions are both available by calling Karla at 204-918-9552.
