Homemade Samoas Bars

Cookie Base:
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
Mix until fluffy
Then add: 1 large egg 
                  1/2 tsp vanilla
Gradually add: 2 cups flour
                            1/4 tsp salt
Press into 9x 13 pan lined with parchment paper.
Bake @ 350 for 15 - 20 min or till golden.
Topping:
Mix 12 oz good quality chewy caramels,1/4 tsp salt, 3 tbsp milk in a bowl.
Heat till melted in the microwave.( 3-4 min) stir often.
When smooth add 3 cups shredded coconut
Put dollops on top of shortbread base and spread evenly.
Cool then slice into 30 bars.
Melt 10 oz chocolate chips and drizzle on top.
Let cool before serving.
