Some local councillors feel not enough is being done to prevent flooding in their community.  St. Pierre Mayor Real Cure says right now they have a diversion on the Joubert Creek however in 2002 the water level was so high it came close to flooding the village.  So they will be approaching the province about building a floodway around the community.  Council has a meeting with Steve Topping from Manitoba Water Stewardship on July 6th. It is also asking the local conservation district and neighbouring municipalities to support this request because as more development happens in the area there is more water going through that system.
