The R.M. of La Broquerie has approved a conditional use application for an older home to be moved onto a property in Marchand.

Bill Delorme made the request last month for the 936 sq. ft.  building to be moved onto the property of 169 Martel Road.

Council held a public hearing in November and there were no objections from the public.

Reeve Ivan Normandeau says council feels good about Delorme’s plan.

“He only got this house for the bare bones,” says Normandeau. “He's going to redo the whole outside; he's going to redo the whole inside. I was really happy with what he was presenting.”

Normandeau says it looks like a solid plan.

The approval comes with a few conditions including one that will provide some protection in the event a municipal road is damaged during the move.

“We gave him two years to finish all those renovations and I believe he'll get that done well within those two years.”

Laurent Tétrault made a motion, seconded by Fernand Piché, to approve the application.

Normandeau notes Marchand continues to be a desirable community for new residents, with two-acre lots and country living.
