A delegation appeared before council asking it to delay the Poplar Estates subdivision until more roads are built in and out of the area. Steinbach city council has approved a new subdivision in Southland Estates over the objections of residents along Madison Drive.  A delegation appeared before council Tuesday asking that Poplar Estates be delayed until more roads are built in and out of the area.  The residents don't want more traffic on Madison.  But land use and permits chair Chris Goertzen recommended the subdivision go ahead and council gave its unanimous approval.  Councillors note there will eventually be another collector street linked to McKenzie Avenue as development progresses.
Poplar Estates will be built immediately east of Avondale Crescent and Madison Place featuring 89 lots that are zoned to allow for single family housing or a duplex.
