Some housing developments in the community are on hold until a larger lagoon is built.

Hanover council met Wednesday to discuss the issue.  There was some opposition at the conditional use hearing held Wednesday night, but council still approved the use of the land for the project.  Councillor Bernie Stahn says the new lagoon has to go somewhere and this is the most suitable location.  The municipality has also approved some of the financing.  It's expected the lagoon will be operational by October of next year.  Housing development in Mitchell is on hold until the 92 acre lagoon is constructed.
