The Steinbach Pistons got stellar goaltending from Will Hambley but couldn't give him any goal support as they fell to the Dauphin Kings 2-0 on Sunday, knotting the series at 3-3.

A large group of Pistons supporters made the trip up to the Parkland to cheer on their team and early in the first, it looked like the Pistons felt that boost.

They came out strong, forcing turnovers, creating chances, and putting pressure on the Kings resulting in a couple of good chances.

The problem was the best shots missed the net.

As things settled in, the Kings began to take over.

They came at Steinbach with wave after wave, pushing the Pistons back and forcing them into mistakes in the neutral and defensive zone.

Hambley was called upon several times to make some sensational saves, which he did, giving his team a chance.

Dauphin outshot Steinbach 20-5. Steinbach arguably should have had more shots on goal but they missed the net.

In the second, after Hambley yet again made a couple of amazing saves, the Kings finally broke through as a point shot was deflected in to put the home side up 1-0.

Steinbach played better in the second but couldn't get any consistent momentum and trailed 1-0 heading into the final period.

Once again, Steinbach spun their wheels. Unable to build on consecutive shifts, the Kings just worked the clock and eventually, got the insurance marker to make it a 2-0 game with under three minutes to go.

Steinbach pulled the goalie for the extra attacker but it wouldn't matter as they couldn't solve the Kings goaltender and time ran out.

Hambley finished the night with 45 saves.

Steinbach's power play finished 0-1 while the penalty kill was 2-2.

The deciding game  7 goes Wednesday night at the TG Smith Centre. Pre-game show on MIX 96 and SteinbachOnline.com starts at 7:15 pm and the puck drops at 7:30 pm.
