Snoman Incorporated is hoping to crack down on snowmobilers abusing the trail system. Executive Director Duncan Stokes says they plan to integrate the purchase of a trail pass with annual snowmobile registration.  He notes Saskatchewan adopted the system last season.  Stokes says last winter there were over 22,000 registered sleds in Manitoba,  and only 12,000 held trail passes.  He says of the remaining 10,000, the majority were abusing the trail system.  Stokes says the new initiative will hold benefits to the honest rider such as a sense of fairness and funding for season long maintence.  He notes with the new method, enforcement officials will better be able to focus on trail safety.  Snoman Inc. plans to lobby for the initiative for the 2007-2008 winter season.
