The Superintendent for Seine River School Division has resigned.

Board Chair Wendy Bloomfield says effective immediately, Dr. Ryan Anderson has stepped down from that role. Bloomfield has provided little indication as to the circumstances surrounding his resignation.

"My understanding is for personal reasons," she says.

When asked for her reaction or whether this news came out of the blue, Bloomfield asked not to comment.

According to Bloomfield, the division's two Assistant Superintendents as well as their Secretary-Treasurer will immediately take over, filling in for what Dr. Anderson would have been tending to and "making sure the system is still moving forward."

Bloomfield notes they will also be working to identify an interim Superintendent over the next couple of months, who can fill that position until a permanent Superintendent is hired.

Bloomfield says it is difficult to say exactly how long it could take until they find a permanent replacement. She notes interested applicants might need to get out of an existing contract, which is not always possible.

"We're hoping as soon as possible, ideally at least by the start of the school year," she says. "But I don't want to be overly optimistic because there's lots of circumstances to finding the right person."

Meanwhile, Bloomfield says the division is doing its best to keep everything moving forward.

"It's almost the end of the school year and we'll make sure that everything is done to the best of our abilities to make sure the end of the school year goes well for everyone," she says. "And actively searching for a new Superintendent."

It was in April of 2022 that Dr. Anderson was named as the new Superintendent for Seine River School Division.
