The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced their 2022 Outstanding Player Award winners. Quarterback Zach Collaros is the Most Outstanding Player; defensive end Willie Jefferson is the Most Outstanding Defensive Player; receiver Nic Demski is the Most Outstanding Canadian; left tackle Stanley Bryant is the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, kick returner Janarion Grant is the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player and receiver Dalton Schoen is the Most Outstanding Rookie. Collaros and Schoen were unanimous selects. The voting was conducted by members of the local chapter of the Football Reporters of Canada and the league’s head coaches. The West Division and East Division Most Outstanding Player Award finalists will be announced next week, with the overall league honours taking place November 17th during Grey Cup week.


Steinbach Regional lost its Winnipeg High School Hockey League home-opener Wednesday at the T.G. Smith Centre. Adriano Cianflone scored twice as the St. Paul's Crusaders defeated the SRSS 5-3. Mark Plett, Dominic Rooney and Lucas Jolicoeur did the goal scoring for the Sabres who are 2-2 in the Platinum Promotions Division. 


Mason Hooper had a goal and two assists and Francois Gagnon made 25 saves as the Eastman Selects defeated the Kenora Thistles 4-2 at the Sun Gro Centre in Beausejour. Liam Leduchowski, Easton Gaffray and Colton Pakoo also scored for the Selects.


Mackenzie Waddell scored both Eastman goals in the Selects 5-2 loss to the Winnipeg Avros at the Seven Oaks Arena. The Avros outshot Eastman 51-21.


Hockey Canada has named Canada’s National Women’s Team roster for the first three games of the Rivalry Series against the United States November 15th to 20th in Kelowna, Kamloops and Seattle. Two Manitobans, defenseman Jocelyne Larocque of Ste. Anne and goaltender Kristen Campbell of Brandon, are on the Team Canada roster. 


Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness did not accompany the team on their three-game road trip that begins tonight against the Kings in Los Angeles. Bowness, who will take part in game planning via Zoom, was not on the bench Monday night when the Jets defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-0 at Canada Life Centre. Earlier in the day, Bowness suffered dizzy spell and appeared to feel unwell while speaking to reporters after the team's morning skate. Associate coach Scott Arniel handled the head coaching duties in the win over the Blues and will continue in that role during the road trip.
