Steinbach Burger Days winners announced

Steinbach's fifth annual Burger Days has come to a close and the executive director for the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce says it was another huge success. 

Michelle Bezditny says they are still collecting the data from participating restaurants but the initial results are looking great. 

“Speaking in generalities, it was probably around $150K-plus that was generated in revenue. That doesn't speak to other items that were sold like fries and drinks and ice cream, that was burger sales alone. We are just so thrilled that our community came out and supported our local businesses.” 

Bezditny notes many of the participating restaurants also used a lot of local ingredients, so many of those suppliers also benefited in a big way. 

And, of course, Bezditny says it’s about more than just the money.  

“It was just amazing to be a part of Steinbach during that week and the event generated interest and community building and that feeling of togetherness.” She adds “We hear numerous stories about people renting RVs and travelling around town.” 

Bezditny says for many, Steinbach Burger Days is a week they look forward to all year.  

Not only did patrons taste the burgers, but they also rated them on the chamber of commerce website and Bezditny has the results. 

“For best presentation, our grand champion is Bigg Smoak BBQ Smokehouse and Grill, our reserve grand champion or runner up is Doener Grill Express. For best tasting, our grand champion is Di Reggae Grill and our reserve grand champion is Santa Lucia Pizza. Our most creative grand champion is Burrito Hut and our reserve grand champion is MJ's Cafe.” 

Three people also walked away with $100 prizes and all they had to do to win was post about Burger Days and add #SteinbachBurgerDays. 

Bezditny thanks the community for taking part in such a big way and making Steinbach Burger Days a success.
