Summer In The City has announced its headliners for the June festival in downtown Steinbach.

Tim Hicks, a five-time JUNO Award nominee and top-10 charting country music artist, will take to the SCU Main Stage on Friday, June 16. The following night, an AC/DC and Def Leppard tribute band will headline Saturday Night at Summer in the City, presented by Schinkel Properties/ Days Inn.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale on Saturday, April 1.

Building on the momentum of the title single from his new album, 'Talk to Time,' Tim Hicks says he is excited to include Summer in the City among a busy summertime tour schedule that also includes performances at Dauphin's Countryfest, Boots and Hearts, Country On The Bay and Country Rocks The Farm.

AC/DC tribute band

"We're really excited, this was a big deal for us," says David Klassen with Summer in the City. "We're going big this year. Last year was a big success and this year Tim Hicks is coming by."

As for Saturday night, Klassen explains it is actually the same band that will perform both as AC/DC and Def Leppard, with a break in between.

"It's the full meal deal," says Klassen. "What a cool way to spend a Saturday night."

The AC/DC tribute band has been around for more than 20 years, bringing its high energy, fan-friendly show to all types of audiences around the world. Their performances include songs that span the entire four-decade career of AC/DC.

Meanwhile, part of the 'Best of British' show, Ultimate Def Leppard has spent more than one thousand hours in the studio recreating the multi-layered vocal harmonies of Def Leppard.

Klassen explains that as a Summer in the City committee, they are working hard to make sure the quality of their entertainment stays really high. He notes they had an amazing festival last year and are hoping for a repeat in 2023.

"The names are only getting bigger," he adds.

Summer in the City runs June 16 to 18.
