Steinbach City Council looks familiar.

With 18 of 18 poll reporting, all six incumbent councillors have retained their seats. Newcomer Shawn Liska fell short of the mark by 255 votes.

The results are as follows:

Mayor Earl Funk, who was acclaimed, says he is looking forward to working with the same council for another four years.

“My initial reaction is very positive. It was a very good council, we got lots done and that is with the learning curve, that is with everyone learning how to work together. I can only imagine what the next four years will bring. I am expecting great things.”

Voter turnout was only 16.9 percent.

Funk says “That doesn't really surprise me that much, I thought it would be a little bit higher but when there is not a Mayor's race, it seems to bring fewer people out. The mayor's race seems to bring a lot more.”

Even though Funk says his place on council wasn’t being contested, his family got together to watch the results flow in anyway.

“My kids wanted to have an election party. We have had them so many times in the history of our family and so they all came out and we are all watching this together and commenting and having a great time and we have been watching the results from 8 PM on.”
