“A great way to get out, enjoy the weather, and see some Christmas lights!”

Brightening long nights and adding some sparkle to your holidays, the Hanover Ag Society’s Snow Place Like Home drive-thru winter wonderland of lights is in its third year, opening its gates to the public December 15th to 31st from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Hanover Ag Society President Curtis Dawydiuk is particularly excited about this year’s outdoor light display.

“We have Santa’s Stop, Selfies With Santa on the 17th and 18th, and we also have horse-drawn wagon rides through the lights on the 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, and 31st. The ride definitely offers a different experience as you go through the lights.”

Light displays include playful arctic animals, dancing elves, a nativity scene, and dozens of decorated trees.

Open for the rest of the year, the only thing that will keep the Hanover Ag Society from lighting up the night is the weather.

“If there’s an extreme weather warning, we won’t be open,” Dawydiuk clarifies. “We just can’t put volunteers out there in the cold when Environment Canada says to stay inside.”

Admission is by donation.

“Give what you can afford,” says Dawydiuk. “If you’re well off and you can give lots, we encourage it. If you’re having a hard time and can’t afford to give much, give what you can. It balances itself out in the end.”

Debit and credit will be available on-site. The Hanover Ag Society is also collecting tins for the bin for the Grunthal Caring Hands Food Bank, and attendees are invited to raid their pantries for items to donate.

If you and your family are looking for casual activities to do over the holidays, this just might be it. Just follow the signs!

“When you come into town, follow the nice, shiny Snow Place Like Home arrow signage. They’ll lead you off the wings onto Oak, and then past the Soccer Park into the Ag Grounds.”

As a community event, Snow Place Like Home would not be possible without the generous support of local sponsors.

“We’ve got tons of great sponsors. There’s signage throughout the pathway. So, if you see a business sign, thank them for supporting us, and helping Hanover Ag bring this community event to our region.”

Snow Place Like Home runs December 15th through 31st from 6 pm to 9 pm, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve, weather permitting. To learn more or to volunteer, visit www.hanoverag.com.
