A man from the Rural Municipality of Ritchot was airlifted to hospital after crashing into the St. Pierre Pharmacy last night.

St. Pierre RCMP was notified at 10:35 pm that a white pickup truck was driving erratically along Highway 59 and heading south towards St. Pierre. As officers were pulling out of the detachment parking lot, the suspect vehicle passed by and headed into the community.

Officers attempted a traffic stop as the truck was heading south in the northbound lane. Police say the truck knocked over a light post but continued on. It appears the driver lost control of the truck and drove into the pharmacy.

According to police, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 58-year-old male from Ritchot, was unresponsive in the vehicle.

According to a STARS spokesperson, the male patient was airlifted to Health Sciences Centre in stable condition. STARS would like to thank the other first responders on scene, including the St. Pierre Fire Department for their assistance in extricating the patient from the vehicle.

RCMP continue to investigate.
