"We feel that we're basically out of the woods."

Those were the words of the RM of Hanover's Chief Administrative Officer Friday morning. Luc Lahaie is referring to the overland flooding in the southeast corner of the municipality following this week's quick spring thaw.

A State Of Local Emergency was issued Tuesday morning for sections 9-6-6E, 3-6-6E, 4-6-6E, and 10-6-6E.

"We still have a localized state of emergency for those four sections west of Highway 12, south of Ridge Road," says Lahaie. "Just for precautionary measures at this time."

He guesses the State Of Local Emergency could be lifted Wednesday at Hanover's next council meeting.

Lahaie says they have been in constant communication with the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie in order to know how much water is coming their way. He notes Hanover's water levels have dropped considerably and if more water comes from La Broquerie, Hanover will be ready.

According to Lahaie, it is expected that all roads in Hanover could be passable by the end of Friday.

Lahaie says there has been only one area of the municipality where water threatened buildings. That was along Road 33E, one mile south of Ridge Road. Lahaie says water was nearing several outbuildings. He says nothing was lost and no sandbags have so far been issued to residents.
