A small white butterfly has made a 2nd appearance this year on roadways in the southeast.  John McGregor with Manitoba Agriculture reports what you're seeing is the cabbage butterfly.  While the butterfly may appear white, it actually has a slight yellowish tinge and two black spots on each wing.  He says earlier this spring there was a number of these creatures flying around which laid their eggs.  Those eggs have now hatched and pupated.  He says the caterpillar attacks cole types of crops like cabbage and canola but now that they have changed into butterflies they are not a problem for crops.
