STEINBACH'S FIRST FRINGE FEST!....
Rural Manitoba residents are always asking for an artistic community that’s edgy, fresh and fun. Calls for the inspirational ingenuity of a big city festival in our own backyard, while supporting local artists, were answered this winter with the Steinbach Arts Council’s first Fringe Fest.
Taking advantage of the blustery Family Day, SAC brought three hilarious and creative live shows that could be enjoyed by the entire family. With a stage set in their SAC Centre studio, contemporary and classic characters alike shared the limelight to delight audiences of all ages.
In Merry Men, Robin Hood and Prince John shared an action-packed adventure like no other that ended in a revelation that showed their true colours and characters.
Phoebe’s Friends Improv Show reunited us with some of our best Friends who showed us that they can think as fast as they talk as they tackled audience suggestions on the spot.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare provided a fast and furious creatively comic run through the famous author’s entire collection that left our sides hurting and no need to study our literature that weekend.
While the weather may have been frosty, the SAC had the heart of the province in their hands and delivered a delightfully warm and refreshingly energized production. With the fall schedule in the works, the community is sure to have their creative minds and artistic souls fed again and again.
