Candace Loewen and husband Josh were expecting their third child, a boy - and excitedly went to the hospital for their 20 week ultrasound where they were handed the tragic news that their baby didn't have a heartbeat. After Candace went through the heartbreaking delivery of their child, the Loewen's were left to grieve with very little support available to them outside of friends and family.
On what Candace refers to as her son Flynn's "5th Birthday in Heaven", she posted a very touching tribute to her son on Facebook. To her suprise, the post went viral and she began receiving messages of support from all over North America from other women who had gone through the similar experience of losing a child.
Candace began an online search for some sort of child loss support group and stumbled across an organization based in St. Louis, Missouri known as SHARE Pregnancy and Infant Loss. In September of last year, she and her husband Josh packed up their three kids (they've since had another son) to attend one of two yearly SHARE training sessions in St. Louis. Candace was so moved by her positive experience that she's decided to start a SHARE chapter here in Steinbach.
Meetings will happen on the first Thurday of each month at Jake Epp Library (the first meeting happens this Thursday at 7pm) and they're open to absolutely ANY parent (mom or dad) who's experienced the loss of a child. If you want to find out more about SHARE you can visit their website.
