It was a special night in Ste. Anne on Saturday as the AAA Female Eastman Selects held a fundraiser for Cancer Care and also defeated the Central Plains Capitals 3-1.

The Selects hosted the special game in front of Rhona Dundas, who was honoured that night with a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game.

Eastman got the scoring started in the first period when Kylie Lesuk struck with the assists to Maddy Desrosiers.

More scoring for the selects in the opening frame as Jade Giesbrecht counted with Lesuk picking up the assist to complete a strong two-point night and Mackenzie Borgfjord also getting a helper.

In the second period, Eastman continued to push looking for more scoring.

They would eventually find it when Liza Vigier scored to put the Selects up 3-0. Camille Enns had the only assist on the goal.

Central Plains would start to ramp up the pressure and eventually scored late to cut the lead to 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The Capitals and Selects went back and forth in the third, trading chances.

Selects goalie Raygen Kirk stood tall and helped the team hold on to a 3-1 win after making 43 saves on the night.

The evening was capped off by raising $1455 for Cancer Care.

The Eastman Selects Female AAA Midget team would like to thank all that attended and donated.
