The Steinbach Pistons made a statement to heated rival Winkler Flyers and to the Manitoba Junior Hockey league on Wednesday night as they skated away with a dominating 10-1 win over Winkler.

The Pistons were looking for redemption after falling in the previous game vs the Flyers and after the teams traded a couple chances, they got the first goal when Brendan Martin found a loose puck in front and outwaited the Winkler netminder to make it 1-0. Martin's 9th of the year was assisted by Tristan Culleton and Tyson McConnell.

Pushing back, the Flyers were knocking on the door and a couple of amazing chances to tie up the game. First, on a cross-ice pass through the slot, Piston's goalie Matt Radomsky tracked it over and made an unbelievable glove save that had the crowd standing and applauding.

Radomsky wasn't done as moments later, he made another perfect kick save on a glorious opportunity for the Flyers. Those two big saves sparked the bench and just a couple minutes later, Riese Gaber went coast to coast, split the Flyers defenders and tucked a backhander home to make it 2-0 Pistons. Gaber notched goal 17 on the year and it was unassisted.

In the second, the Flyers looked to get something going offensively but strong defensive play and more solid work from Radomsky turned the rushes away.

Easton Bennett continued his recent hot streak picking up his 8th of the year less than two and a half minutes into the period to push the lead to 3-0. Tanner Mole and Brendan Martin had the assists.

Less then two minutes after that, Bradley Schoonbaert hit the 30 goal plateau when he snapped a wrister home to make it 4-0. Austin Heidemann and Darby Gula had the assists.

The Flyers finally got on the board as the Pistons were guilty of puck watching a bit in their own zone and CJ Corazzin was left all alone in front as he cut the lead to 4-1.

The floodgates opened wide for Steinbach as they put up four more goals in a span of fewer than 10 minutes of play.

Gaber scored his second of the game, 18th of the year and third goal in two games when he cashed in on a Mark Taraschuk rebound restoring the four-goal lead, 5-1.

Brendan Martin scored back to back markers giving him his first career MJHL hat-trick.

The first came on a penalty shot as he executed a perfect backhand-forehand fake to wrister top corner making it 6-1.

Martin was back at it less than a minute later as he found a loose puck in the crease and buried his third of the night and 11th of the year. Gaber was given the lone assist on the Thunder Bay natives hat-trick marker as the Pistons lead grew to 7-1.

Before the second was through, with a power play, Daniel McKitrick (19) buried a slap shot top shelf as the lead was pushed to 8-1. Mark Wilson and Will Koop had the assists on the final goal of the period.

In the third, a goalie switch for Winkler didn't have the desired effect as the first shot from Bennett found the back of the net to make it 9-1. Brady Tatro laid a perfect tape to tape pass to spring Bennett for his second of the game and 9th of the year. Taraschuk picked up his second point of the night on the goal. Bennett has scored 4 goals in his past 2 games.

After things got a little chippy, the Pistons were on a 5 on 3 power play and Gula (12) scored the final goal of the contest with assists to McConnell and Drew Worrad.

The slaughter came to an end 10-1.

The power play finished 2 for 5 and the penalty kill was 2 for 2. Radomsky was rock solid in the crease making 27 total saves on the night.
