The Steinbach Millers put up back to back shutouts in the semi-final and final on route to winning gold at the tournament in Gimli over the weekend.

Before making their way to the finals, the Millers had one of their best, most complete games of the year against Souris.

It was a hard fought battle that eventually finished in a 2-0 win. Great goaltending and the whole team clicking at the right time gave the boys confidence heading into the finals against Winkler.

It was a back and forth game. The Millers had the better of the scoring chances but couldn't solve the Winkler netminder in the opening 20 mintues.

Steinbach did get on the board when Gavin Pidsadny scored on a rebound in front to make it 1-0.

Logan Sawatzky added the insurance marker when his point shot found the back of the net in the third period to extend the lead to 2-0.

Goaltending again was the story as William MacDonald clamped down in the crease and refused to allow Winkler anything.

The horn sounded and the Millers were champions.
