The Steinbach Millers Novice A team won gold this past weekend in a tournament being held in Ile Des Chenes.

The undefeated group made up of 7 and 8 year old players, started off the round robin with win over the host team Ile Des Chenes before moving on to defeat Lorette in their second game. They wrapped up the opening trio of games with another win over a strong Mitchell squad.

After putting up an undefeated record in the round robin, Steinbach was the top seed moving in to the finals where they faced off against the second place team, Mitchell.

In the finals, it was a very tight game. Mitchell hit the ground running and jumped out in front to an early lead. The Millers came roaring back in the second period to grab the lead. In the third, Mitchell put up quite the fight but the Millers were able to hold on to a 5-2 win to take home the gold.

Steinbach heads back into their regular season schedule and face off against the only other undefeated team in the league, Niverville. The two teams battle on Thursday in Steinbach before heading to Niverville for a rematch on Sunday.
