A 7-6 victory over the Assiniboine Community College Cougars gave the Providence Pilots women's futsal team their first win last Saturday in Brandon.

The Pilots then took on the Brandon University Bobcats and were defeated 6-1.

"We needed to get our first win this weekend, and the women came out and got one," says head coach Tory Walker. "When we played BU we executed our game plan in the first half, and only trailed 2-1, but then the wheels came off and they scored four quick goals on us. It was a good weekend, though, and I feel we're starting to play some good futsal."

As for the men's team, they ended with an 8-8 tie to the Assiniboine Community College Cougars and also lost to the Brandon University Bobcats 7-3.

Meanwhile, the volleyball teams had a pair of wins during the same weekend. The women's team solidified their first place standing in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference with wins over Les Rouges de l’Universite de Saint-Boniface and the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen.

The men's team also beat USB in straight sets and required only four to see of the U of W. Adrian Dyck executed 34 kills over the weekend and Tyler Picklyck Enns recorded 11 kills, five blocks and five aces.
