The Steinbach Pistons came back to life after Tuesday's loss and scored 7 goals en route to demolishing the Winnipeg Blues 7-2 on Thursday night.

Coach Paul Dyck wanted his club to come out with more energy and that's exactly what they did, answering the physical toll early and picked up the opening goal thanks to Braden Purtill. After a couple scrambles in front of the net that Winnipeg was able to get away with, Purtill finally knocked one over the goal line for his 7th of the season from Jordan Bochinski and Ryan Carlson.

The first period came to an end with Steinbach up 1-0.

In the middle frame, Bradley Schoonbaert collected his 21st goal from Will Koop and Joe Leonidas to push the lead to 2-0. Winnipeg thundered back and tied things up in the span of 2:03 with two quick goals, one of which came on the power play.

Steinbach answered right back on a nice rush from Drew Anderson, who used his speed to push back the Blues defence and sauced a pass over to a streaking Jack Johnson who deflected it up and over the goalie to give the Pistons a 3-2 lead. For Johnson, he notched his second of the season and now has two goals in three games.

Before the period was over the power play struck to restore the two goal lead. With good puck control, the Pistons cycled the puck back to the point and it was a bullet shot from Leonidas that found the back of the net, with assists going to Vaughn Dupre and Darby Gula. The period ended with Steinbach up 4-2.

Leonidas and the power play of the Pistons were not done yet.

In the third, an amazing pass from Schoonbaert, on the power play, hit Mack Graham in the slot and he rifled home his 26th of the season, with Tyler Anderson adding the secondary assist. Leonidas capped off his three point night with his second goal of the game and 5th of the year, assisted by Dupre, on another man advantage for the Pistons to make it 6-2.

With just over a minute remaining in the game, the Blues took another penalty and Steinbach made them pay with thier fourth consecutive power play goal as a point shot from Tyler Anderson deflected off Wyatt Hinson and found the back of the net to make it 7-2. Hinson nabbed goal 5 on the year while Anderson collected his second assist and the other helper went to Declan Graham.

Winnipeg native Matt Radomsky picked up his 10th win of the year making 22 saves on the night. Radomsky credits a couple of 'friends in red' for helping him out. "(The posts) are a goalies best friend and they were with me tonight. I made sure to thank them."

The power play got a shot in the arm with a couple changes and new schemes, finishing 4-8 on the night while the penalty kill finished 5-6. Steinbach out shot Winnipeg 27-24, holding the Blues to just four shots in the third period.

Assistant coach Joey Moggach knows that it's an important part of the Pistons games going forward. "You have to make teams pay for taking penalties. If you are strong and put in goals, it gives you a little more space. Teams think twice about taking runs or slashing at you because they know you can make them pay."

Another tough match up on the road awaits as the Pistons will play game three of five away from home Saturday night in Virden. Ryan Carlson knows there is a job to do and feels his team is ready. "I love that barn, it's fun to play in. The guys that haven't been there before need to get their boots moving right away. That will build that confidence we need."

The Steinbach Pistons vs the Virden Oil Capitals will be broadcast on Mix 96 and SteinbachOnline.com with the pre game show at 7:15pm with a 7:30pm puck drop.
