The Providence volleyball teams have returned from a weekend in Brandon.

The women's team lost their opening match 3-1 to the Assiniboine Community College Cougars on Friday and then won against the same team on Saturday 3-1. The men's team also lost on Friday but came back with straight-set wins on Saturday.

Adrian Dyck put down 10 kills in the victory, and Willie Goossen and Hans Fehr executed six and five, respectively. Lucas Pappel recorded 34 assists. 

The Pilots men are presently second in the MCAC standings—just two points back of the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers.

Meanwhile, in basketball, both Providence teams lost to the Red River College Rebels on Saturday. The women, now 3-5 on the season and third in the province, lost 63-42 at home to Red River, although Lauren Wiebe went 3/4 from the three-point line and scored 11 points. The men, also third in the MCAC, were defeated 110-83.

Finally, the Pilots women’s futsal team led 4-3 before accepting a 10-3 loss to Red River. The men, meanwhile, opened their season with an 8-5 defeat to the Rebels.
