Failure to finish drives proved costly for the Steinbach Regional Secondary School.

The Sabres dropped a 20-12 decision to the Oak Park Raiders Wednesday at A.D. Penner Park and saw their record fall to 2-1 in the Winnipeg High School Football League's Junior Varsity Division.

"I think our offense came up short in some situations because collectively we didn't pay close attention to the details that were needed to finish plays, and ultimately drives with touchdowns," texted SRSS head coach Kerry Friesen. "In addition to that Oak Park deserves some credit as they executed a solid game plan that held us to 12 points."

Steinbach Regional's lone touchdown came on an Austin Dueck pass to Nathan Schure.

Dueck completed 7-of-18 pass attempts for 106 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Christian Ginter carried the ball 10 times for 108 yards while Jayden Martens caught two passes for 40 yards.

Jaden Pozniak was good on a 25-yard field goal and the SRSS got two more points when the Raiders took a safety in the fourth quarter.

The Sabres next game is Wednesday, October 11th against the St. Paul's Crusaders at A.D. Penner Park.
