The Eastman Selects will meet the Pembina Valley Hawks in the Manitoba Female AAA Midget Hockey League final for the third time.

Chelsea Dinnin scored in overtime to lift Eastman past the Winnipeg Avros 3-2 Wednesday night in Ste. Anne.

The Selects won the best-of-five semifinal three games to one.

"It was amazing," said Selects head coach Bill Bram on his teams series victory over the first place Avros. "Just to see the kids and how they reacted. Chelsea's goal was a beautiful goal. She went through one girl and then picked the top corner. We played everybody. We didn't shorten the bench. Everybody got us there so everybody was playing. It was all I could ask."

Stephanie Jones and Kylie Lesuk also scored for the Selects in game four.

Coach Bram says this team has taken a big step forward.

"Every year we've gotten a little better and the kids are buying in to what it takes to get to the next level. Our confidence is really showing. We took three penalties in the first 10 minutes in game four and had to kill those off. There was a little bit of anxiety. We were a little bit on our heels and they came at us hard.

Eastman and Pembina Valley met in the MFMHL final in 2009 & 2011.

The Hawks swept both best-of-three finals in two straight games.

"We've had success against Pembina Valley," said coach Bram on facing the defending champions. "It's going to be a good series. We worked hard to get there and the journey's not done."
