The selection process to determine the 2018-2019 edition of the Eastman Selects starts this weekend.

The Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League team will hold it's main camp at the Sun Gro Centre in Beausejour.

Head coach Scott Wong will be back for his second season behind the Selects bench.

"Learned a lot last year and just got to build off it," said Wong. "Obviously you know there's things we do that are good and some mistakes are made. You have to learn from them and we'll be fine."

Wong and his coaching staff will spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday evaluating 64 players during phase one of main camp

"I'm looking forward to seeing some of the new guys. There was three or four that were Western Hockey League picks in the Bantam Draft and I'm looking forward to seeing them. We got a lot of goalies, a lot of defense and quite a few forwards. All I want to see these guys do is compete to be an Eastman Select."

Phase two is two ice sesssions which take place September 11th & 13th.

Phase three is scrimmages on September 15th & 16th.

Phase four includes ice sessions on September 18th & 20th and exhibition games against the Kenora Thistles on September 22nd & 23rd.

The Selects will open the regular season schedule Friday, September 28th against the Winnipeg Thrashers in Beausejour.
