The Eastman Selects start their second season Wednesday night in Shoal Lake.

The Selects face the reigning Manitoba Female "AAA" Midget Hockey League champion Yellowhead Chiefs in game one of their best-of-five quarterfinal.

"I think we're ready," said Eastman head coach Bill Bram. "We're peaking at the right time. Confidence wise the kids are hyper. I'm happy where we're at right now. Our kids have been working hard both on and off the ice. The only thing is we have to go there and it's a four hour drive on a Wednesday which is a downer."

The Selects and Chiefs played four times during the regular season schedule.

Eastman beat Yellowhead 2-1 and lost 2-1 in a shootout back in November in Steinbach.

The Chiefs took two from the Selects in late January in Shoal Lake by scores of 4-2 and 2-0.

"They're a physical team," said coach Bram. "It's going to be a defensive battle as far as shutting down some of their key players."

The two teams will play Wednesday in Shoal Lake and then meet in Steinbach on Friday for game two.

"That first game is going to be huge," said Bram. "It would definitely help with the momentum for the rest of the series. It's going to be tough. It's their rink, they have last change and they're coached well. We know we can beat them. It's just a matter of execution and everybody being ready."
