The Steinbach Pistons allowed 4 goals in the opening period of game 5 on Saturday night and couldn't climb back as they eventually fell 4-1 to the Winnipeg Blues who inched closer into the series, with Steinbach leading 3 games to 2.

If It Could Go Wrong, It Did

Winnipeg came out very strong and were able to score a pair of goals within a span of 9 seconds to quiet the hometown Pistons crowd.

They were not done as they managed to score two more in the second half of the period, including a goal with less than 10 seconds to go in the opening period.

Winnipeg out-shot the Pistons 20-6 in the first 20 minutes of play.

Stronger Second

Steinbach buried the opening first and came out looking better in the second.

They pushed the pace a bit more and didn't allow the Blues much of anything and managed to put up 14 shots of their own.

The best Pistons chance came on a partial breakaway but was stopped by the outstretched pad of the Blues net minder.

It remained 4-0 Blues after two periods.

Beauche-Beauty

Troy Beauchemin managed to get Steinbach on the board short handed as the rookie forward forced a turnover at the blue line and went in all alone, faking a forehand before burying a backhander for his first of the playoffs.

That would be it for the offence as the game finished 4-1.

Frustrations Boil Over

As the game was reaching it's end and the outcome was all but decided, frustrations were evident as both teams started trying to take liberty's on one-another.

After a Winnipeg Blues player gave goalie Matt Radomsky a snow shower in retribution for an earlier snow shower on their own goalie, it lit the powder keg and set both teams off.

Troy Williams had enough and went after Kelton Sutherland and both players engaged, taking swings at one another.

The linesman got right in the middle, trying to keep the players away from each other. Williams managed to get free and a punch that popped off Sutherlands helmet off.

Both benches were jawing back and forth and it continued after the buzzer sounded.

Winnipeg has won back to back games to claw a little closer, trailing the series 3-2.
