A word of caution to motorists that 4-H clubs in the province will be taking part in their annual highway cleanup campaign Saturday.

Clayton Robins is Executive Director of the Manitoba 4-H Council. He says for many years now, 4-H clubs have been choosing a section of highway in their local area to clean. This Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm they will be cleaning up garbage from roadsides.

"They will all be wearing their safety vests and working in the ditches between those hours," says Robins. "We just ask motorists to proceed with caution around the workers."

There are no clubs in the southeast taking part this year but Robins asks motorists to be on the lookout when traveling outside the region.

"We really appreciate it when folks slow down and honk and show their support and appreciation," says Robins.

In event of rain, the cleanup will take place June 3.
