The first three quarters of 2017 have seen a good deal of construction in the Town of Niverville.

Multi-family construction in Niverville in 2015Mayor Myron Dyck says from the beginning of January to the end of September this year permits were issued for an 18 unit apartment building, three four-flexes, and a five-plex for a total of 35 housing units compared to 2 permits issued in 2016 for a total of 6 housing units. He says single-family housing has also been strong.

“On single-family, we have seen 33 permits pulled through the first three quarters of this year which is the most we have had since 2013 and it is only at the three-quarter mark so definitely an uptick in single-family. Going back, in 2016 we had 30, 2015 we had 23, 2014 we had 18.”

Dyck says the total value of permits pulled this year is just over $15 million which is up compared to $12.5 million in all of 2016. He notes commercial construction has been down a little this year, but they anticipate a bounce back in the near future.

“As far as commercial, we had one office building for our Main Street. We are seeing lot sales in our industrial park but there is no construction going on so we anticipate whether it be this fall or in spring when people that have purchased those lots seek to start building we will see some more there.”

Dyck says looking back at building trends over the last few years, he anticipates growth to remain strong in Niverville for the Foreseeable future.
