A tractor spontaneously ignited at a cattle farm near Zhoda on Friday afternoon.

At 12:35PM, La Broquerie firefighters were called to the scene on Moose Meadow Road, 3.5 miles east of Highway 302.

“By the time we got here, the tractor was basically consumed,” says JC Normandeau, the Deputy Fire Chief for La Broquerie.

2019 02 tractor1The tractor is a total loss.

While the cause of the fire remains uncertain, Normandeau expects that some debris on the engine ignited when it got too warm and quickly spread to the rest of the machine.

Fire crews spent the better part of an hour spraying down the tractor with water, as the owners of the equipment watched from a distance.

Nothing nearby was damaged but the tractor is a total loss.
