The toy train is starting to fill up at Canadian Tire but we need your help to fill it to the top.

Toys Days is on Wednesday and Thursday where we collect new unwrapped toys for the Steinbach Community Christmas hampers. Carolyn Peters, the hamper coordinator, says they will be putting together around 1,000 hampers this year and adds they are looking to the community to help add toys in each hamper for children who may not get a Christmas gift otherwise.

"Seeing those hampers that go out, I mean, my goodness I wish I could throw 50 toys into that hamper," says Peters as she explains what inspires her to get involved every year. "The substance of these hampers, the toys that they are getting, it's substantial it really is and I know so many families are blessed by it but I wish we could do more."

Peters encourages people who are buying gifts for their children this Christmas season, to think of children in the community who will only get what comes in the hamper that is given to them. "To me, that tugs on my heart every year. if you're buying gifts for your kids, think, you could buy one for one other boy or girl in our community who might not get anything."

The toy train is set up all day Wednesday and Thursday at Canadian Tire in Steinbach where people can drop off new unwrapped toys.
