Environment Canada Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says visibility is expected to be reduced until late Thursday night.

Hasell notes wind speeds are expected to rise as the day goes on. She says gusts could reach 80km/h with a sustained wind of 60km/h Thursday afternoon. The forecast is calling for 5cm of snow throughout the day which would bring the total snowfall in Steinbach from this blizzard to around 7cm to 10cm.

"The snow should taper off by this evening," Hasell adds, "the wind should taper off by later tonight."

Hasell says blowing snow will remain a factor until the wind dies down.

Steinbach RCMP urge motorists to only go out on the roads if absolutely necessary. They say if you do go out, allow yourself more time to get to your destination safely.
