A blustery morning in southern Manitoba has forced the closure of many highways and schools throughout the region.

The Trans Canada Highway remains closed from Falcon Lake to the Ontario border. All other highways east of the Red River are open at this hour, though conditions are far from ideal with icy stretches and reduced visibility.

It was a tricky morning on highways in the southeast.On the west side of the Red River, there are closures along Highways 2, 3, 13, 14, 23, 30 and 32. Also, the Trans Canada Highway from Austin to Brandon is closed.

Meanwhile, Hanover School Division has closed its facilities because of the stormy weather. This means teachers, division staff and office support staff are working from home today. Classes were not scheduled for today in the HSD, today was a PD day.

In the Seine River School Division, schools and the board office are closed and employees are not expected to report to work

In the Red River Valley School Division, all schools are closed and staff will work from home.

Steinbach Christian School has cancelled classes.
